The Calgary Fire Department is the fire department serving the City of Calgary. This page will cover the training academy, located at 5727 23 Avenue SE, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building was built in 1982, and the fire alarm system was partially upgraded in 2008.

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and the system coding is 60BPM.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
Most notification appliances are Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9127 horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).
Renovated areas have Simplex 4906-9128 horn/strobes (red, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd)

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
Most pull stations are Simplex MS-301C conventional single-action pull stations.
Some areas have Grinnell or Tyco/Grinnell MS-401GR conventional single-action pull stations.
There is one Notifier NFM-950B conventional single-action pull station on the third floor.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
There are a mix of the following heat detectors in mechanical rooms, closets, electrical rooms and kitchens:
- Potter CR-135W conventional 135°F fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors
- FDD CR-135 conventional 135°F fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors
- System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors
- Edwards 284C. conventional 197°F fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors
There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in all stairwells.
There is a System Sensor C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detector in the first aid room.
There is an Edwards C2M-PD conventional photoelectric smoke detector in the SIM room.
There is an Edwards “SuperDuct” SD-2W conventional photoelectric duct smoke detector on one air handling unit, and a Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9685 conventional photoelectric duct smoke detector on the other.
All addressable detectors are mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 bases.
