Ecole John Stubbs Memorial School is an elementary/middle school located at 301 Zealous Crescent, in Colwood, British Columbia, Canada. The school was built in 2007, and the fire alarm system is mostly original.

System Specifications[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Notifier NFS2-640C addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main electrical room. The system runs Notifier’s FlashScan addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

The NFS2-640C replaced the original Notifier NFS-640C in 2023.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There is a Notifier LCD-80TM annunciator with a custom graphic at the main entrance.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All audible notification appliances are Wheelock MB-G10-24 motor bells (10” gong). These are mounted remotely in most areas, and on Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plates (set to 15cd) in areas with higher noise levels.

Three of these were recently replaced with Mircom BL-10B motor bells (10" gong), as deficiency replacements. There are two Edwards MB10-24 motor bells (10" gong) on the existing aforementioned strobe plates in the lobby and air handling room as deficiency replacements.

The following bells are installed as deficiency replacements remotely:

  • Edwards MB10-24 motor bells (10" gong)
  • Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bell (10" gong)
  • Simplex 2901-9724 (10" gong)
  • Mircom BL-10B (10" gong) previously installed on the second floor.

All classrooms except for one contain System Sensor "SpectrAlert" S1224MCA remote strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).

The other classroom, and the washrooms have System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" SRA remote strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd); the one in the classroom is a deficiency replacement.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Notifier MPS-950B conventional single-action pull stations. The ones in the gymnasium are fitted with MPS-DALK dual-action levers to prevent false alarms.

The air handling room and the theatre have Notifier NFM-950B conventional pull stations.

All aforementioned stations are wired to Notifier FMM-101A addressable monitor modules.

A couple of classrooms have Notifier NBG-12LX addressable dual-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier FSP-851A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on Notifier B710LPA low-profile bases.

The air handling units mostly have Notifier FSD-751PLA addressable photoelectric smoke detectors, and a couple have System Sensor D1420A conventional photoelectric 4-wire duct smoke detectors, wired to Notifier FMM-101A modules.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier FMM-1A addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Notifier EOL-CR end of line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
