Optimist/George Blundun Arenas is a twin arena complex located in the Optimist Athletic Park at 5020 26 Ave SW, in Calgary, AB. The complex is owned and operated by the City of Calgary. The Optimist arena was built in 1971, and George Blundun was added in 1980. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 2007 and retains some original components.

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Mircom FX-2000 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main lobby. The system runs Mircom’s CLIP addressable protocol, and the system coding is continuous.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There is a Mircom RAX-LCD annunciator in the main entrance vestibule, mounted in a Mircom BB-1001 enclosure.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

There are 5 bells in the building.
There are three Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong).
There is one Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bell (10” gong) in the main lobby.
There is one Edwards “Durabel” 6100D vibrating bell (10” gong) in the Optimist Arena.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Mircom MS-401AD addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Mircom MIX-5251RBA addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors throughout the building.
Areas with higher ambient temperatures have Mircom MIX-5251HBA addressable high-temperature heat detectors.
Dressing room 7 has a Mircom MIX-2251BA addressable photoelectric smoke detector.
All detectors are mounted on System Sensor B710LPA bases.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all signal circuits.
