SAIT, also known as the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology is a polytechnic institute in Calgary. This page will cover the former Campus Center, which had the Wellness Centre, the Trojans office, and the Orpheus Theatre just to name a few. It was located at 1301 16 Ave NW. This was the only building on campus that did not have voice evac capabilities. The building was built in the late 1970s, finished in 1981, and demolished in 2023.

The fire alarm system was mostly original, with the final panel upgrade in 2021.

Former System Specifications (1981-2023)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the hallway near the arena. The system coding was temporal.

The EST3 replaced an EST QuickStart QSC from around the 2000s, and before then replaced the original Edwards 6500.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There was an Edwards EST 3-6ANN Position Annunciator at the entrance.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

All notification appliances except one were Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6" gong), installed during construction.

There was one Edwards MB6-24 motor bell (6" gong) as a deficiency replacement. The bells were all behind metal grills.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

The pull stations were mostly the original 2nd generation Edwards 270-SPO (classic shield, no FIRE ALARM) pull stations.

There was one newer 270-SPO in the hallway in the basement to the arenas, installed as a deficiency replacement.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There were Edwards EC30U-3 photoelectric smoke detectors, likely installed when the QuickStart QSC was.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There were Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
