The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is a technical college located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This page will cover Building G, which houses the chemical studies programs. It was built in 1963, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in 1989, and again in the 2000s.

System Specifications (2000s-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U addressable fire alarm system. The panel location is unknown. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation. The evacuation tone is slow whoop followed by a custom message.
The 4100U replaced a Simplex 4100+ around 2007, which in turn replaced a Simplex 2120 in 1996.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances are Simplex 2902-9711 remote re-entrant speakers (red, wall-mount), mounted on Atlas-Soundolier TVTA-R mounting plates, and remotely in the annex to X.
The annex to E has Simplex 2902-9314 remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount, 8” round).
There are FIRE-DO NOT ENTER signs at annexes, with Simplex 4904-9101 remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 4.75cd) behind them.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9001 addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 bases.
There are also Simplex 4098-9756 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors behind the ceilings, wired to Simplex 2098-9806 LED indicators.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 4090-9002 addressable relay modules for elevator recall and door magnet release.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end of line resistor plates on all signal circuits.
