Genesis Place is a recreation centre located at 800 East Lake Blvd NE, Airdrie, Alberta. The facility features a wave pool, two NHL sized arenas and various other attractions. The facility was built in 2003, was expanded in 2009 to add a soccer complex and gymnasium, and finally expanded in 2012 to add the arenas. The fire alarm system is original, with a network expansion in 2012.
System Specifications (2003-present)
FACP
The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. The system is a network of two nodes:
*Node 1: Aquatics Entrance Vestibule
*Node 2: Arena Electrical Room
The system runs Edwards’ Signature addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal is 20BPM, followed by temporal for general alarm.
Annunciators
There are two Edwards EST3-LCDANN annunciators fitted with the LCDXL1 displays in the arena entrance vestibule and behind the main desk.
Booster Panels
There are a total of 10 Edwards BPS10A 10-amp power supplies throughout the building.
Notification Appliances
Most notification appliances are Edwards MB6-24 motor bells (6” gong) mounted on EST 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd).
Areas with higher ambient noise levels have Edwards MB10-24 motor bells (10” gong) mounted on EST 403-5A-R strobe plates.
Initiating Devices
= Pull Stations
All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage pull stations.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are EST SIGA2-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in most areas.
Some mechanical rooms have EST SIGA2-HRS addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate of rise heat detectors.
There are EST SIGA2-HFS addressable 135°F fixed temperature heat detectors in some rooms such as the concession, communications room, electrical rooms, as well as the elevator shafts.
All detectors are mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.
Some air handling units have EST “SuperDuct” SIGA-SD addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors.
Modules
There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are EST SIGA-CR addressable relay modules serving various purposes.
There are EST SIGA-IM isolator modules on each SLC.
EOLs
There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
