The Ashby is an apartment building located at 11350 104 Ave NW, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The building is part of The Residences on 104th. The building was built in 2000, and the fire alarm system is mostly original.

System Specifications[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Mircom FX-2000 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Mircom’s CLIP addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.
This panel was installed in 2018 replacing an older variant.

Booster Panels[edit | edit source]

There is a Mircom INX-10A booster power supply in the main floor west electrical room, powering the in-suite mini horns.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most common area notification appliances are Mircom “Select-A-Horn/Strobe” FHS-240R horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 30cd, set to electromechanical).
The games room has a Mircom FHS-240W horn/strobe (white, wall-mount, set to electromechanical/15cd).
The first, second, fifth and parkade floors have one Mircom FHS-340R horn/strobe each (red, wall-mount, set to electromechanical/15cd) as deficiency replacements.
There are two Mircom FHS-400-RR horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd) on the fifth floor as deficiency replacements.
There is a Mircom FS-400-RR remote strobe (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd) in the weight room.
Most suites have Mircom MH-25W mini-horns (white, mix of original and replacement).
Some suites have Mircom MH-S25WA silenceable mini-horns (white) as deficiency replacements.

Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

Most pull stations are Mircom MS-401AD addressable single-action pull stations.
The west main floor fire doors have a Tyco/Grinnell MS-401GR conventional single-action pull station wired to a Mircom MIX-M501MA addressable monitor module.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Mircom MIX-2251APA addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout most areas, installed in 2018.
The garbage, housekeeping and maintenance rooms have Mircom MIX-5551A addressable 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors.
The parkade mechanical room has a Mircom MIX-5251HBA addressable 190°F fixed-temperature heat detector.
All aforementioned detectors are mounted on System Sensor B210LPA bases.
The parkade janitor and elevator rooms have Mircom TD-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors.
The parkade maintenance room has a System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector.
All conventional heat detectors are wired to Mircom MIX-M501MA addressable monitor modules.
There are Mircom MIX-DH200PLA addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors on all make up air units.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Mircom MIX-M500MA addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches, with one Mircom MIX-M500MAPA addressable monitor module installed as a deficiency replacement.
There are Mircom MIX-M500RA addressable relay modules serving various purposes, with one Mircom MIX-M500RAPA addressable relay module installed as a deficiency replacement.
There is a Mircom MIX-M500CHA addressable control module triggering the booster panel.
There are System Sensor M500XA isolator modules at each fire separation.
There are Mircom SDM-240 sync modules on most signal circuits.

EOLs[edit | edit source]

There are Mircom MP-300 end of line resistor plates on all conventional heat, sprinkler and signal circuits.
There is a Notifier EOL-CR end of line resistor plate on one conventional heat detector circuit.
