Stanton Territorial Hospital is a hospital located at 548 Byrne Road, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. It is the largest hospital in the Northwest Territories and has 100 beds. It was built in 2018, and the fire alarm system is original.

System Specifications (2018-present)

FACP

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. The system is a network consisting of many nodes, the panels are located in the entrance and some electrical rooms. The system runs Edwards’ Signature addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal is a 20BPM chime, and the alarm signal is a temporal 1kHz tone. Live “Code Red” announcements are made by security in lieu of voice messages. The general alarm timer length is 3.5 minutes.

There are Edwards EST3-LCDANN annunciators with the LCDXL1 displays in all nurses’ stations.

Booster Panels

There are Edwards BPS6A 6-amp booster power supplies on the system.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are from Edwards’ “Genesis” line of products.
Most notification appliances are Edwards GC-S7VM speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, no marking, set to 30cd).
Areas requiring more audible coverage have Edwards GC-S7 speakers (white, ceiling-mount, no marking).

All air handling units have EST “SuperDuct” SIGA-SD addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors.
The boiler room has a System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector, wired to an EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor module.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-CT1 and SIGA-CT2 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
