Cochrane Christian Academy is a Christian K-8 school located at 129 Powell St, Cochrane, AB. It is operated by Rocky View Schools. The school was built in the 1955 as Andrew Sibbald School, and was expanded in 1959, 1969 and 1989. Calgary Catholic School District bought the school in 1993, in which the school was extensively renovated, expanded and became Holy Spirit Catholic School, until 2022, when the school moved to a new location.
The school was then renovated through 2022-2023 to become Cochrane Christian Academy. The fire alarm system was partially upgraded in 2014, and one pull station is original.
System Specifications (2014-present)
FACP
The building is protected by a Vigilant VS2 hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule, and is fitted with a Vigilant RZI16-2 zone card to accommodate the conventional devices. The system runs Vigilant's GSA addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.
This system replaced the EST 6616 in June 2014.
Notification Appliances
All of the notification appliances are from Edwards' "Genesis" line of products, and were installed in 2014 replacing the bell/strobes.
Most notification appliances are Edwards G1R-HDVM horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, no marking, set to 15cd). These are mounted on two-device boxes, with one device facing each end of the hallways. Some areas are installed remotely, with some on Edwards G1TR trim plates.
The washrooms and resource office have Edwards G1R-VM remote strobes (red, wall-mount, no marking, set to 15cd).
There is an Edwards GC-HDVM horn/strobe (white, ceiling-mount, no marking, set to 30cd) in the 2018 portable.
For outdoor notification, there is an Edwards WG4RF-HVMC weatherproof horn/strobe (red, FIRE marking, set to 65cd) pointed at the large field, under a protective cover.
Initiating Devices
Pull Stations
All pull stations are Edwards 270-SPO conventional pull stations. They were mostly installed in 1993, however there is one from 1959 in the northernmost portable.
There is a current-generation 270-SPO at the end of the portables hallway, installed as a deficiency replacement sometime between 2015 and 2022.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are EST SIGA2-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout, mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.
Some areas have Edwards EC20RRU-3 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors. They were installed in 2020 replacing Edwards 281C conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors that were left over from the previous system.
Each air handling unit has an Edwards 6265B-001 duct smoke detector housing equipped with an Edwards 6264C-001 ionization head, wired to 6262B-001 test stations/alarm indicators.
EOLs
There are Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistors on all conventional and signal circuits.

FACP
The building was protected by an EST 6616 conventional fire alarm system. The panel was located in the main entrance vestibule. The system coding was continuous.
It was replaced in 2014 with the Vigilant system as a lifecycle replacement.
Notification Appliances
Most notification appliances were Wheelock MBS-G10-24 motor bell/strobes (10" gong, 1.5cd).
There was an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell (10" gong) on an Edwards 403-5A-R (15cd) strobe plate installed in the early 2000s as a deficiency replacement near the other common area.
In the northernmost portable, there was an Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bell (6" gong) on a Wheelock VLPS-24 strobe plate (1.5cd), likely installed as a deficiency replacement.
For outdoor notification, there were two Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10" gong); one located by the large field and one facing the staff parking lot. These were installed with the 6616.

There were Edwards 6250C conventional ionization smoke detectors throughout the building.
Some areas had Edwards 281C conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors that were kept on the current system until 2020.
There were also Edwards 6266C-001 conventional photoelectric duct smoke detectors in 6260B housings, located throughout the building behind the ceiling tiles, wired up to 6262B-001 test stations/alarm indicators; these remained.
EOLs
There were Edwards EOL-P1 end-of-line resistors on all circuits.
