The Home Depot (Shawnessy)

From FireAlarmPedia

The Home Depot is an American hardware store franchise, with locations all over North America. This particular location is in the Shawnessy area of Southwest Calgary. The building was built in 1998, and most of the system is original. The fire alarm system here is basically the same as the Mackenzie location, but conventional.

System Specifications

FACP

The fire alarm panel is a Notifier System 500, judging by the annunciator. The main panel is not visible. It is original to the building.

Annunciators

There is a Notifier AFM-16AT annunciator at the entrance.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances consist of the original System Sensor "SpectrAlert" P1224MC (red, wall) horn/strobes. The restrooms have System Sensor "SpectrAlert" S1224MC (red, wall) strobes. Some horn/strobes have been replaced with Mircom FHS-240R horn/strobes.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are mostly Notifier MPS-950B. Replacement pull stations include Simplex MS-301C, and Tyco/Grinnell MS-401.

Automatic Detection Devices

None noticed, likely due to high ceilings.

Fun Fact

This store uses System Sensor H12/24W remote horns as door alarms. They are set to code 3, electromechanical, which likely causes issues, since the fire alarms sound exactly the same.
