Wilma Hansen School

From FireAlarmPedia

Wilma Hansen School is a junior high school located in the Queensland neighborhood of Southeast Calgary. It is part of the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and has a capacity of 900 students, but is currently not at capacity. It teaches students in grades 7 to 9. The school was built in 1983, but does not have the original fire alarm system.

System Specifications

FACP

The fire alarm panel is a Notifier NFS2-640C (addressable). It was installed in 2016, following a system upgrade. The original fire alarm panel was a Pyrotronics System 3 as confirmed by a report in 2009, but it is unknown what was on that system. The panel is located in the main office. When the system goes into alarm, the panel synchronizes all the strobes and the horns, which are self-coded.

Annunciators

There is a Notifier KDM-R2 LCD annunciator with a keypad near the main entrance.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances are mainly System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" P2R horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 2-wire). They are set to code 3, and the volume setting varies throughout the school. The classrooms have System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" MHR (red) mini-horns, also set to code 3. The restrooms have System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" SR (red, wall) remote strobes. These were all installed in 2016 along with the panel. When the system goes into alarm, all of the notification appliances (horns and strobes) are synchronized.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are Notifier N-MPS-SA addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Notifier FSP-851 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors located throughout the school.
