'Holiday Inn Express' is a chain of 3-star hotels across the world. This particular hotel is located in the Lake Bonavista neighborhood of Southeast Calgary. It was built in 2000, and most of the system is original.

System Specifications

FACP

The hotel is protected by a Notifier AFP-200 addressable fire alarm control panel. It is located in the main entrance, and is original from 2000.

Notification Appliances

The main notification appliances are System Sensor "Spectralert" P1224MC horn/strobes (red, wall mount). These are original from 2000. The public washrooms, however, have System Sensor "Spectralert Advance" PC4W horn/strobes (white, ceiling mount), set on high volume, code 3. It is highly recommended that you do not go into the restrooms during testing, due to extremely loud noise. Some replacements include System Sensor "Spectralert Advance" P4R horn/strobes (red, wall-mount), and a Mircom FHS-240R in the breakfast room. The rooms have Mircom MH-S25RA silencable mini horns, and System Sensor "Spectralert" S1224MC remote strobes. The strobes are original from 2000, but it is unknown if the horns are original.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

Most pull stations are Notifier NFM-950B, original from 2000. The pool area, however, has a Summit SPS-101CA pull station, likely from the late 2010s.

Automatic Detection Devices

Most smoke detectors are System Sensor 1400 ionization smoke detectors. These are original from 2000. Some of these detectors have failed, and were replaced with Notifier FSP-851 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors.
