The Lake Bonavista Community Association is a small recreation centre in Lake Bonavista, SE Calgary. It was built in 1970, but does not have the original fire alarm system. Almost all of the fire bells and most pull stations are original to the building!

System Specifications

FACP

The fire alarm control panel is a Mircom FA-1000. There's an annunciator at the entrance, but the main panel is located in the facility manager's office. The FA-1000 most likely replaced an Edwards 2280 or custom 6500 around the 2000s. The "SIGNAL SILENCE" button has the writing "Bell" above it, as well as the NACs saying "bells"

Notification Appliances

Most of the notification appliances consist of the original Edwards "Durabel" 6100D (6" gong) vibrating bells from the 1964 era. Some Durabels have been replaced with newer variants (late 1970s-1990 logo, or 1990s logo). In the gymnasium and the entrance, there are Simplex 2901-9723 motor bells replacing failed Edwards bells. There is also a painted-over Edwards 881-D flush mount horn in the dressing room hallway, however it is unknown if it is still in use.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

Most of the pull stations consist of the original Edwards 270-SPO with the square shield E logo. Replacement pull stations include a Notifier MPS-950B in the smaller arena, and a newer Mircom MS-401 at one entrance.

Automatic Detection Devices

None noticed.
