The BMO Centre is the largest convention center in Calgary. It is located in Stampede Park in SE Calgary. It was built in 1982, but only a couple of pull stations are original. The current system is from 2013, after the Calgary Floods. The centre consists of five exhibition halls, a 12000 sq ft ballroom and many meeting rooms. It is well known for hosting the Calgary International Auto & Show.

System Specifications

FACP

The BMO Centre is protected by a two-stage EST3 fire alarm system. The EST3 system was installed in 2013 after the Calgary floods. The previous panel was an EST2, which was damaged by water in 2013 during the flood. The EST2 was located at the entrance, but an EST3 annunciator is in its place, but the main FACP is not visible, it's in an unknown location.

Notification Appliances

The main notification appliances are Edwards MB10-24 motor bells on EST "Integrity" 403-5A-R strobe plates. They are from when the EST2 was installed, around 2003 and some strobes have yellowed. In the exhibitor areas, these bell/strobes are sometimes flown from the ceiling and are hardly noticeable. Some areas have Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells on EST 403-5A-R strobe plates from the 1990s, with very yellow strobes. By the entrance, an MB10-24 bell broke down in 2018, and was replaced with a new white sticker Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell, with the yellowed strobe plate still intact. Outside, an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell from the 1990s (or possibly 1980s) has been spotted on one side of the building.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The main pull stations are EST SIGA-270P from around 2003 with the old EST logo. Some of these SIGA-270P pull stations broke down over the years, and one has been replaced with a EST GE variant in an exhibitor hall, and a few are the current generation SIGA-270P. In some areas, there are 1990s Edwards 270-GAO, including one exhibition hall. There have been a couple early 1980s 270-GAO pull stations spotted in the building.

Automatic Detection Devices

All of the smoke detectors are EST SIGA-PS from 2003.
