The Markin MacPhail Centre is a 500,000 sq. ft multi-use arena complex in SW Calgary. It has 4 sheets of ice, three of which are NHL sized, and one of which is Olympic sized, with a capacity of 2500. It is located on the grounds of Winsport, also known as Canada Olympic Park. It was built in 2012, and has its original fire alarm system. The fire alarm system is networked to the Frank King Day Lodge, so that when one goes into alarm, the other goes into alarm. However, unlike the daylodge, this one has voice-evac capabilities and is two-stage. This venue is known to host conferences and banquets.

System Specifications (2012-present)

FACP

The fire alarm panel is a Siemens FireFinder XLS. It is original to the building, and is networked to the one in the Frank King Day Lodge, which means that when one goes into alarm, the other goes into alarm. The system has voice-evac capabilities and is two-stage, unlike the Frank King Day Lodge.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances are Siemens SE-MC-W-B (white, wall, bilingual lettering, multi-candela, rebranded Wheelock E50-24MCW) speaker/strobes.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are Siemens HMS-2S addressable, bilingual, 2-stage pull stations, which are also original.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Siemens FirePrint FP-11 addressable multi-sensor smoke/heat detectors located throughout the building.
