Palliser One is an office building located at 125 9 Avenue Southeast, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The tower is currently undergoing a partial conversion, which will see 11 of the 27 floors converted into 176 apartments. The tower opened in 1970, and the current fire alarm system was installed in the 2000s. No information is known about the fire alarm system prior to the 2000s.

System Specifications (2000s-present)

FACP

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. The system is networked, and the main node is likely located in a CACF room. The system runs Edwards’ Signature-series addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation. The first stage signal is a 20BPM tone, followed by either a 120BPM or temporal tone in general alarm. There may also be voice messages, although this is unknown.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Edwards 965-3A-8RW speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, 8” round, 30cd, 70V). Some areas have Edwards 965-1A-8RW remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount, 8” round, 70V) for additional sound coverage.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases. Some areas have EST SIGA2-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors as deficiency replacements, also mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.
