Southland Leisure Centre is an indoor leisure centre located at 2000 D Southland Dr SW in the Palliser neighborhood of SW Calgary. It is known for its wave pool and large indoor water park. The facility was built in 1983, but the fire alarm system is not original. The facility was renovated in 2008, and with it came the current fire alarm system.

System Specifications (2008-present)

FACP

The facility is protected by a Siemens MXL addressable fire alarm system. The panel location is unknown, but the model has been confirmed by an annunciator. The system runs Siemens' FirePrint addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. First stage coding is 20BPM, and general alarm is temporal.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Siemens MBDC-10 motor bells (10" gong). The change rooms, meeting rooms, and some hallways have Siemens MBDC-6 motor bells (6" gong). In the pool's men's locker room, there is a Wheelock MB-G6-24 motor bell (6" gong), the only device left from the previous system. It was installed prior to 2006. There is one deficiency replacement; a Siemens SFM24-10A motor bell (10" gong) by the splash area in the pool area, which replaced a rusted-out MBDC-10 in 2015.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Siemens MSI-30B addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Siemens "FirePrint" FP-11 multisensor smoke/heat detectors throughout the facility.

Bonus Information

For the wave pool warning system, there is an Edwards "Adaptahorn" 874-N5 horn and an Edwards "Adaptabeacon" 110FINB-N5 blue strobe at the back of the pool. The horn is set to a very loud volume, and there's a sign above the two saying "WARNING! Light and buzzer activate. Waves will be on in 10 seconds"

There is a Wheelock MB-G6-24 motor bell gong mounted on a water motor, which is used as a dump warning for the large bucket on the play structure.
