The University of Calgary is a public university located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This page will cover the Kinesiology B building, which houses the Jack Simpson Gym, the gymnastics centre, and the climbing centre, along with several classrooms and a fitness centre. The building opened in 1981, and the fire alarm system is mostly original. The main FACP was replaced in 2019.
System Specifications (2019-present)
FACP
The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located at the northeast/MacEwan Student Centre entrance. The system is equipped with voice evacuation. The system plays a whoop tone, followed by the default Simplex message. The 4100U was originally installed in 2006 as an auxiliary panel for the original Simplex 2120, and everything was moved to the 4100U in 2019. The 2120 cabinet remains, however is gutted.
Notification Appliances
Most areas have Simplex “LifeAlarm” 2902-9734 remote speakers (beige, flush-mount, 25V). Areas with high ceilings and outdoor areas have SImplex 2902-9732 remote speakers (red, surface-mount, 25V). Some areas have Simplex 2902-9711 re-entrant speakers (red, surface-mount, 25V) as deficiency replacements.

Pull Stations
All pull stations are Simplex 4251-20 conventional single-action pull stations.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are Simplex 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors mounted on 4098-9792 bases. These were installed in 2006.
