Northland Professional Centre is a 5-story low rise building mainly used for medical purposes such as dental or orthodontics. The building can be seen right off of Crowchild Trail NW. This building was built in 1978, and the fire alarm system is not original; most of the system was installed in 2012, and the notification appliances were installed in 2017.

System Specifications (2017-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Siemens FireFinder XLS fire alarm system. The panel is located in the lobby, replacing a Simplex 4207 in 2012. When the Simplex system was replaced in 2012, all of the initiating devices were replaced with FirePrint devices, the original bells remaining until the NAC overhaul in 2017. The system runs Siemens' FirePrint addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are from System Sensor's "SpectrAlert Advance" line of products. The main notification appliances are System Sensor P2RA horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 2-wire, most set to 30cd), and are even installed in offices. There are also System Sensor SR remote strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 30cd) in areas needing more visual coverage. These were installed in 2017 in new locations, as the bells were not loud enough; there was only one bell per floor. For outdoor notification, there is a System Sensor SRKA (red, wall-mount, set to 75cd) weatherproof strobe outside the entrance.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Siemens HMS-S addressable pull stations. These were installed in the places of the original pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

All smoke detectors are Siemens "FirePrint" FP-11 multi-sensor heat and smoke detectors, located throughout.

Former System Specifications (1978/2012-2017)

System Coding: Temporal?
Date of last known Upgrade: 2012
Year Decommissioned: 2017 (bells only)

FACP

The building was protected by a Siemens FireFinder XLS addressable fire alarm system. It was installed as the replacement panel for the original Simplex 4207 in 2012, and is still installed. The Siemens system ran Siemens' FirePrint addressable protocol, and the system coding was likely temporal.

Notification Appliances

Most notification were the original Simplex 4080 vibrating bells (10" gong). There was an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell (10" gong) in the lobby as a deficiency replacement. The bells were kept on the Siemens system until 2017, and were replaced due to volume concerns; there was only one bell per floor and it was not loud enough in the medical offices.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations Siemens HMS-S addressable pull stations. They are still there, and they replaced the original Simplex 4251-20 pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

The smoke detectors were Siemens "FirePrint" FP-11 multi-sensor heat/smoke detector combos, which replaced the original Simplex smoke detectors.
