Southcentre Mall

From FireAlarmPedia
Revision as of 22:30, 6 November 2020 by Alberta Fire Alarms (talk | contribs) (If this is the mall's Siemens system then it only counts for the Desigo. Any other systems will be on other pages.)

Southcentre Mall is a shopping centre located in the Willow Park neighbourhood of SE Calgary. It opened in 1974, and was extensively renovated and expanded in 2009. The two major tenants (one former) have separate fire alarm systems from the main mall (will be on other pages according to the system) The current panel is from 2020, and the rest of the system is from 2009. This mall is one of the largest shopping malls in Calgary.

System Specifications

FACP

The current fire alarm control panel is a new Siemens Desigo Life Safety Modular, which replaced a 2009 Siemens MXL due to issues with the CPU in 2020. (Is anyone surprised?) The MXL was 2-bay, with a graphic annunciator in the second bay. The Desigo is single bay, with an LCD display occupying the second bay. There are many other tenants with their own independent fire alarm system, and all systems are wired are as a point on each FACP, so when one goes into alarm, all other systems go in alarm.

Notification Appliances

The notification appliances are all Siemens MTH-MC-R-B horn/strobes (rebranded bilingual Wheelock MT-24MCW), that were installed in 2009 when the MXL system was installed. Most horn/strobes are on the ceiling, however it is not a fail as the strobe is ceiling listed, and if they're on the wall,

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

The pull stations are all Siemens HMS-2S/MSI-30B bilingual addressable 2-stage pull stations from 2009.

Automatic Detection Devices

The smoke detectors are Siemens "FirePrint" FP-11 multisensor smoke detectors.
