Royal Tyrrell Museum

Royal Tyrrell Museum is a paleontology and dinosaur museum in Drumheller, located at 1500 N Dinosaur Trail. It is also Canada's only museum that is only for prehistoric life. The museum is also a big tourist attraction for Alberta. It was built in 1985, but has had its current fire alarm system since 2016 after an expansion.

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located at the main entrance. The system runs EST's Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are EST "Genesis" G1R-HDVM horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, no FIRE, set to 15cd), mounted on EST G1RT-FIRE trim plates. The Cretaceous Gardens have EST "Genesis" WG4RN-HVMC weatherproof horn/strobes (red, no FIRE). For outdoor notification, there is an EST CS405-7A-T (red, 15/75cd) remote strobe by the entrance.

There are EST SIGA2-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on SIGA-SB bases.

The building was protected by a Siemens MXL addressable fire alarm system. The panel was located near the main entrance. The system was configured for two stage operation. The coding was 20BPM in first stage, followed by temporal in general alarm.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances were Siemens U-MMT-MCS-W-B (white, bilingual, wall-mount, multi-candela) multi tone horn/strobes. They were likely set to the horn tone.

The pull stations were Siemens MSI-30B addressable two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

None noticed.

Bonus Information

Above the outdoor strobe, there is an Edwards "Adaptabel" 333D single-stroke bell (6" gong), left over from the original Edwards 6500 system. It is disconnected.
