Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa is a 3 star hotel located at 521 Banff Avenue, in Banff, Alberta, Canada. It houses a mountain lodge-style hotel, a spa, and a steakhouse. The building opened in 1993, and most of the fire alarm system is original.

The hotel is protected by a Simplex 4100U conventional fire alarm system. The panel location is unknown, but is confirmed by the picture next to the annunciator having the InfoAlarm Command Center. The 4100U replaced the original 4100+. The system is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal is 20BPM, followed by continuous as the alarm signal.
Annunciators
There is a Simplex 4603-9101 LCD annunciator at the entrance.
Notification Appliances
Most notification appliances are Simplex 2901-9722 motor bells (10” gong). There are also Simplex 4904-9101 remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 4.75cd) scattered throughout the hotel.
Guest Rooms
The rooms have Wheelock MIZ-24-WS mini horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 1.5cd)

All pull stations are Simplex 2099-9107C addressable single-action two-stage pull stations.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are Simplex 4098-9601 conventional photoelectric smoke detectors on the hotel room floors, mounted on 4098-9788 bases. There is also a sprinkler system with waterflow detection.
List of known activations
January 2010 - alarm at 2:00 AM. False activation confirmed by staff.
February 2012 - alarm at 11:30 PM, smoke detector in stairwell activated by cigarette smoke, confirmed by fire department and hotel staff. Multiple guests reported the scent of smoke. First mistaken as smoke from the fireplace. Hotel was not evacuated, however everybody was safe.
May 2013 - alarm at 12:15 AM. False activation, guests reported to lobby, alarm silenced soon after.
December 2013 - alarm at 2:30 AM. False activation confirmed by staff.
June 2014 - alarm at midnight. Cause unknown and likely false activation. Everybody was safe.
August 2017 - alarm at 10:00 PM. Hotel was evacuated and cause was later found to be false.
July 2018 - alarm sometime in evening. Guests were overwhelmed by the volume of the alarm. Cause was likely false.
January 2020 - alarm early in the morning. Cause unknown, however everybody was safe. [[]
