Coast Nisku Inn & Conference Centre is a 3-star hotel located at 1101 4 St, in Nisku, AB. Its amenities include a pool, and two restaurants. The hotel opened in 1981, and was extensively renovated in 2018. The fire alarm system was installed following the renovation.

FACP

The hotel is protected by a Mircom FX-2000 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system was installed in 2018 following a renovation. The system runs Mircom’s CLIP addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Annunciators

There is a Mircom RAX-LCD annunciator paired with a Mircom RAX-1048TZDS annunciator by the front desk. Both annunciators are mounted in a Mircom BB-1002 enclosure.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Mircom “Select-a-Horn/Strobe” FHS-340R (red, wall-mount, set to high volume broadband, 15cd) horn/strobes, located throughout the hotel.

In the kitchen and back hallway, there are Mircom FHS-400-RR (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd, low volume) horn/strobes.

All pull stations are Mircom MS-401AD addressable pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Mircom MIX-2251B addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in hallways and storage rooms, mounted on System Sensor B210LPA bases. The rest of the hotel is protected by a sprinkler system with waterflow.

Accessories

There are Mircom MIX-M500MA addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system.

Known Activations

  • March 10, 2023 - a guest lit a candle under a lampshade, which caught fire. A pull station was activated, and the alarm sounded. Most occupants believed it was false, but it was not and the hotel was evacuated. Leduc County Fire Services responded and put out the fire. Occupants were allowed back in after about 30 minutes.
