The Jasper Park Lodge is a 4-star hotel located at 1 Old Lodge Road, Jasper, AB. It consists of mostly cabins. The lodge was originally built in 1922, before being destroyed by a fire in 1953 and was rebuilt. It has been owned by Fairmont Hotels since 1988. The main lodge was then extensively restored in 1994, and renovated in 2016. The fire alarm system was mostly upgraded in 1994, and parts range from the late 1960s to 2017.
Only the main building has a fire alarm system.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by a Notifier NFS2-640C conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. It has several zone cards to be conventional. The system coding is continuous.
The NFS2-640C was installed in 2016, replacing a Notifier System 5000 from the 1994 restoration, which replaced an Edwards 1221T.

Notification Appliances

Lobby Level

Most notification appliances are System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” P2RA horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd). These were installed in 2017, and are found throughout the lobby and the hotel floors.
These horn/strobes replaced vintage Wheelock 46 vibrating bells (10” gong, silver). There are still two of these bells intact; bell is still installed in the lobby near the entrance, and another out by the stables.
The Great Hall, Beauvert Rooms and Mary Schaffer Ballrooms have setups of a Wheelock MT-24-LSM multi-tone horn/strobe (red, wall-mount, 15/75cd, set to bell) in between two Wheelock MT-12/24R multi-tone horns (red, set to bell). These are mounted mostly on the horizontal sides of the horn/strobe, but can be vertical. They were installed during the 1994 remodel, and it is unknown why there are two horns between a horn/strobe.

Spa & Boutiques Level

Most notification appliances are Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6” gong), installed in 1988. These are also installed in each meeting room.
One bell is on a Wheelock LSP-24-VFR strobe plate (15cd).

Clubhouse

There is only one notification appliance in the clubhouse; a Wheelock MB-G10-24 motor bell (10” gong). This was installed as a deficiency replacement.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

Most pull stations are Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations. These were installed in the 1960s.
The spa & boutiques level has Notifier FM-950B conventional pull stations.
The Orso Trattoria has a Honeywell FM950-E pull station.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are System Sensor 5451A conventional heat detectors throughout the building.
Some areas have System Sensor 1412A conventional ionization smoke detectors.
The above detectors are mounted on B401BA bases.
There are System Sensor 2151A conventional photoelectric smoke detectors in some areas as deficiency replacements; these are mounted on the original bases, and are in the guest rooms on B210LPA bases.
There is an FDD CR-135 conventional fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector in the Tekarra room.
There is also a sprinkler system protecting the entire building.

Code Violations

The lobby level has a bell and horn/strobes mixed. This is against CAN-ULC code as the sound must be uniform. The Wheelock MT-24-LSM horn/strobes and MT-12/24R horns are not affected, as they are set to bell.
