The University of Alberta is a public research university located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This page will cover Henry Kelsey Hall, which opened in 1962. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 2020.

FACP
The building is protected by a Simplex 4100ES addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located just past the main entrance. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable initiating and IDNAC addressable signaling protocols, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The alarm tone is 500Hz temporal.
Notification Appliances
All indoor notification appliances are Simplex “TrueAlert ES” 49SVH-APPLC-O addressable speaker/strobes fitted with 49SVC-CWFIRE-O covers(white, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd). These are also installed in each individual room.
In the stairways, there are Simplex "TrueAlert" 4902-9721 (ceiling mount, 70V) speakers on every second floor.
For outdoor notification, there are Simplex 49SVH-APPLW-O weatherproof addressable speaker/strobes (red, wall-mount) fitted with a 49SVC-WRFIRE-O covers; one outside the main entrance vestibule, and two outside the rear one.

Automatic Detection Devices
There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 bases. The building is equipped with a sprinkler system.
Modules
There are Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
