Barton Secondary School is a decommissioned high school located in Hamilton, Ontario. The school opened in 1959, and was closed in 2015. The building currently sits vacant, and will potentially be a replacement building for the Sherwood Secondary School, as that building requires numerous repairs. The fire alarm system is from the 2000s.

System Specifications

FACP

The school is protected by a Simplex 4100U addressable fire alarm system. The panel location is unknown. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Annunciators

There is a Simplex 4603-9101 LCD annunciator at the main entrance.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are Wheelock MT-12/24R horns (red, wall-mount). These are mounted on both the walls and the ceiling.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9001 addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the school, mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 addressable bases.

Bonus Information

There are several Edwards “Adaptabel” 24 vibrating bells (grey, 6” gong) throughout the building, however they are no longer in use. These are original to the school, and were possibly used as school bells at one point. It is unknown if these were ever used for fire alarm signaling. [[]
