Royal Hotel is a chain of midrange hotels owned by Wyndham. The chain is headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, USA, and has locations worldwide. This particular hotel is located at 8450 Sparrow Drive, in Leduc, Alberta, Canada. The hotel primarily serves travelers from the nearby Edmonton International Airport. The hotel opened in 2001, and the fire alarm system is original.

The building is protected by an Edwards EST2 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Edwards’ Signature addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal coding is 20BPM, followed by temporal for the evacuation signal.
