Shouldice Arena is an ice hockey arena located at 4900 13 Ave NW, Calgary, AB. It is owned and operated by the City of Calgary. The building was built in 1972, and was remodeled in the late 1990s. The fire alarm system was upgraded around 1999, and again in 2007.

System Specifications (2007-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Mircom FX-2000 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main lobby. The system runs Mircom’s CLIP addressable protocol, and the system coding is continuous.
This system replaced an EST 6632 in 2007 as part of that year’s upgrade project.

Notification Appliances

All audible notification appliances except for one are Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bells (10” gong).
There are EST “Integrity” 202-5A-T remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 15cd) in each dressing room and next to all Edwards bells .
The universal dressing room has a Mircom BL-6B motor bell (6” gong) on a Wheelock RSSP-24MCW strobe plate (red, set to 15cd).

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Mircom MS-401AD addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Mircom MIX-5251RA addressable 135 degree fixed temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors throughout the arena.
The flood room has a Mircom MIX-5251HBA addressable 135-degree fixed temperature heat detector.
All detectors are mounted on System Sensor B710LPA bases.
