Bearspaw Operations Centre is a City of Calgary roads maintenance complex located at 11444 Bearspaw Dam Road NW, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This page will cover the main building, which is the only building with a fire alarm system. This building houses vehicle storage and maintenance for road maintenance vehicles, and several offices. The building was built in 1981, and the fire alarm system was fully upgraded in 2007.

System Specifications (2007-present)

FACP

The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main floor office hallway. The system runs Edwards’ Signature addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are Edwards “Integrity” 757-8A-T horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 110cd).
These are wall-mounted in all bays, and ceiling-mounted in all office areas; ceiling-mounted units are equipped with LKC-1 ceiling-oriented lenses.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations but one are EST SIGA-270 addressable single-action pull stations.
The wash bay has an Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull station wired to an EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor module.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are a total of 127 EST SIGA-HRS addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors throughout the building.
The wash bay mechanical room has an EST SIGA2-HRS addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector, installed following a renovation.
There are EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors at the top of both stairwells.
All detectors are mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-IM addressable isolator modules on all SLCs.

EOLs

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all signal circuits.
