Silverado Creek Seniors Community is a retirement home located at 7 Silverton Way SW, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building was built in 2020, and the fire alarm system is original.

System Specifications[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100ES addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the CACF room, just off the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation; the alert signal is a 20BPM tone, and the alarm signal is a temporal tone. There are no pre-recorded message on this system.

Annunciators[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 4603-9101 annunciators at all nurse’s stations, and in the main entrance vestibule.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most common areas have Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9153 speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, set to 70V/15cd).
The lower level common areas have Simplex 4906-9151 speaker/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 70V/15cd).
All patient rooms have Simplex 4902-9717 remote speakers (white, wall-mount, set to 70V).

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout all corridors, in all patient rooms, and in most electrical and telecom rooms.
There are Simplex 4098-9733 addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in the mechanical room.
These detectors are mounted on Simplex 4098-9794 sounder bases in all patient rooms, and on Simplex 4098-9792 bases in all other areas.
There are Simplex 4098-9755 addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors on all air handling and make up air units, with Simplex 4098-9830 remote indicators mounted near them.
There are Simplex 4098-XAD-110 aspirating smoke detectors supervising all elevator shafts.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the kitchen suppression system, the generator, the dampers, and the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are Simplex 4090-9002 addressable relay modules serving various purposes.

There are Simplex 2081-9039C end of line resistor plates on all circuits supervised by monitor modules, and all signal circuits.

Sequence of Operation[edit | edit source]

All devices except those in patient rooms are alarm points. All patient room smoke detectors are supervisory points, and only sound the sounder base of the activated detector.
