The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology is a technical college/trades school located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This page will cover the Feltham Centre, also known as building CAT, which is one of the largest buildings on campus, serving over 5,000 students. It is located at 11763 103 St NW, Edmonton, Alberta. It was built in 2016, and the fire alarm system is original.

System Specifications (2016-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100ES addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the west entrance vestibule, and has two subpanels. The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation. Alert signal is a 20BPM tone (TBA) followed by the alarm signal, slow whoop with a custom message.

Notification Appliances

All Simplex notification appliances are from their “TrueAlert” line of products.
Most notification appliances are Simplex 4906-9154 speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, set to 30cd).
There are Simplex 4902-9721 speakers in some areas for additional audible coverage.
The middle floors have open ceilings, so there are Simplex 4906-9151 speaker/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).
There are Simplex 4902-9716 remote speakers in these areas for additional audible coverage, there is also one at the bottom of the main stairwell.
The balcony has Wheelock ET-1080-R weatherproof speakers (red, wall-mount, vandal-resistant), with Simplex 4906-9105 weatherproof remote strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 60cd) under them.
For exterior notification, there is a Wheelock ET-1080-R weatherproof speaker outside each entrance.

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on 4098-9792 bases.

Modules

There are Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are Simplex 4090-9002 addressable relays serving various purposes (i.e. elevator recall).
There are Simplex 4090-9116 addressable IDNet isolators on the SLCs.

EOLs

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end of line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
