The SEFCU Arena is a 4,538 seat multi-purpose arena located at 1400 Washington Ave, Albany, NY. It is located on the campus of the University at Albany. It is home to the University’s Great Danes basketball teams, and is known for hosting the 2006 America East Conference men’s basketball championships. The arena was constructed in 1992 as the Recreation and Convocation Center, and adopted its current name in 2006. The fire alarm system is original.
System Specifications (1992-present)[edit | edit source]
FACP[edit | edit source]
The arena is protected by the original Simplex 4100 conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in an electrical or mechanical room, but was confirmed by the annunciators. The system has zone cards in it to make it conventional, as the LEDs are labeled by zone. The system is equipped with voice-evac, but it is unknown what tones it plays. It does however, play the default message.
Annunciators[edit | edit source]
There are two custom-made annunciators located at both emergency exits. They are composed of a Simplex 2975-9190 2-unit cabinet, and 4100-0402 16 red/yellow LED modules, plus a 4100-0405 8 red/yellow LED modules with switches.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
The notification appliances are mostly Simplex “LifeAlarm” 2902-9717 re-entrant speakers (red, flush-mount) and Simplex 2902-9711 re-entrant speakers (red, surface-mount), found throughout the arena. In the trophy room, there is a Simplex 2902-9711 speaker on a Simplex 4903-9105 strobe plate (100cd), mounted vertically. In the weight room, there are Simplex 2902-9711 speakers on Simplex 4903-9101 strobe plates (4.75cd). In the arena, for louder sound coverage, there are Simplex 2902-9701 15-watt re-entrant horn speakers, hanging from a beam.
Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]
Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
All pull stations are Simplex 4251-20 single-action conventional pull stations. Some are behind Stopper covers.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
There are Simplex 2098-9201 photoelectric smoke detectors throughout. There is an unknown beam smoke detector in the lobby, as well as a System Sensor BEAM1224 4-wire conventional projected beam smoke detector.
