Didsbury District Health Services is the main healthcare complex serving parts of South-Central Alberta. This page will cover the main hospital building, located at 1210 20 Ave, in Didsbury, Alberta, Canada. The building was built in 1984, and the fire alarm system was partially upgraded in 2004, with additional system modifications occurring as part of building renovations.
This system is slated for replacement in the near future. Stay tuned for further updates!
System Specifications (2004-present)[edit | edit source]
FACP[edit | edit source]
The building is protected by a Notifier NFS-3030C hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in basement fire panel room 0154. The system runs Notifier’s FlashScan addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert coding is 20BPM, and the alarm coding is temporal.
The NFS-3030C replaced the original Edwards Custom 6500 in 2004.
Annunciators[edit | edit source]
There is a Notifier LCD-160 annunciator at the main nurse’s station, and an Edwards custom graphic annunciator in the main entrance vestibule.
Booster Panels[edit | edit source]
There are Notifier ACPS-610 addressable booster power supplies in some areas.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
Most notification appliances are Notifier KMS-10-24A motor bells (10” gong).
Some areas have Notifier KMS-6-24A motor bells (6” gong), mounted remotely in most areas, and paired with System Sensor “L-Series” SRLA remote strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd) in recently renovated areas.
There is an Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bell (6” gong) in one room, and an Edwards 439D-10AWC vibrating bell (10” gong) in one corridor.
There is a Pyr-A-Larm BDC-624 vibrating bell (6” gong) in one office.
There is a Mircom BL-10B motor bell (10” gong) in the penthouse elevator lobby.
Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]
Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
Most pull stations are Edwards 270-GAO conventional two-stage single-action pull stations.
Renovated areas have Notifier N-MPS-2A addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
There are EST EDW1400A conventional ionization smoke detectors in most corridors and patient rooms.
There are System Sensor C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detectors as deficiency replacements.
There are Notifier FSP-851A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in all elevator lobbies, machine rooms and shafts, mounted on System Sensor B210LPA bases.
There are Notifier FST-851A addressable 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors in the elevator pits, mounted on System Sensor B210LPA bases.
There are Notifier FSP-951A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in all renovated areas, mounted on System Sensor B300A-6 bases.
There are System Sensor D2A conventional photoelectric smoke detectors on all penthouse air handling units but one, and on all renovated area air handling units; penthouse devices are wired to System Sensor RA100ZA remote indicators.
There is a System Sensor DH100PLA conventional photoelectric duct smoke detector on one penthouse air handling unit, wired to a System Sensor RA100ZA remote indicator.
There are Notifier “Innovair” FSD-751PLA addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors on the Unit 1 air handling unit.
There are Edwards duct smoke detectors on the Unit 2 air handling unit, model unknown.
There are a mix of the following conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in all washrooms, non-public rooms, and some corridors and lobbies, ordered from most to least prevalent:
- Edwards 281A
- System Sensor 5601A
- Edwards 281C
- FDD CR-135
- Edwards 281B-PL
- Potter CR-135W
There is an FDD CR-135-LED conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector in one room.
The mechanical rooms have Edwards 284A conventional 190°F fixed-temperature heat detectors.
Modules[edit | edit source]
There are Notifier FMM-1A addressable monitor modules supervising the duct smoke detectors in the renovated wings.
There are Notifier FRM-1A addressable relay modules for elevator recall.
There are Notifier ISO-XA isolator modules on all SLCs.
EOLs[edit | edit source]
There are a mix of Edwards 46229-0054, Edwards EOL-P1 and Notifier EOL-CR end of line resistor plates on all conventional and signal circuits.
