Newport Harbour Care Centre is a long-term care facility or nursing home located at 10 Country Village Cove NE, Calgary, AB. It was built in 2004, and has the original fire alarm system.
System Specifications[edit | edit source]
FACP[edit | edit source]
The building is protected by an EST QuickStart QS4 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the basement telecom room. The system runs EST’s Signature addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert coding is 20BPM, and the alarm coding is temporal.
Annunciators[edit | edit source]
There are a total of 4 EST QSA-2-S annunciators on the system, located at each nurse's station, in a stairwell, and in the main entrance vestibule.
There were originally 7 annunciators, however 3 were removed due to part failures, and lack of replacement part availability.
Booster Panels[edit | edit source]
There are three Edwards BPS10A 10 amp booster power supplies next to the panel, providing power to all signals and annunciators.
Each booster panel is equipped with Edwards "Genesis SignalMaster" G1M-RM modules to provide 4-wire operation.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
All notification appliances are Edwards “Genesis” G1R-HDVM horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd) mounted on Edwards G1TR trim plates.
Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]
Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage pull stations.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
There are EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building.
There are EST SIGA-HRS addressable fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors in the crawlspaces and most non-public rooms, plus the loading dock.
All aforementioned detectors are mounted on SIGA-SB bases.
The kitchen, mechanical rooms and some storage rooms have FDD CF-135 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors, wired to EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules.
Some portions of the kitchen and mechanical rooms have System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors as deficiency replacements.
There is an FDD CR-135-EWT conventional explosion-proof 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector in the medical gas storage room, wired to an EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor module.
There are EST SIGA-DH duct detector housings with SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detector heads on all air handling units.
Modules[edit | edit source]
There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the kitchen suppression system, the generator run/trouble contacts, and the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are EST SIGA-CR addressable relay modules serving various purposes.
There are EST SIGA-IM addressable isolator modules on the SLC.
EOLs[edit | edit source]
There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all circuits supervised by monitor modules, and all sprinkler and signal circuits.
