The University of Alberta is a public research university located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This page will cover the Lister Dining Hall and Residence Services part of the Lister Centre. The building opened in the 1960s, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in the 2010s.
System Specifications (2010s-present)[edit | edit source]
FACP[edit | edit source]
The building is protected by a Simplex 4100ES hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in an electrical room in the service hallway, as the door says "FIRE ALARM RESET". The system runs Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.
The 4100ES replaced a Simplex 4100U in the 2010s.
Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]
All notification appliances are Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9127 horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).
Initiating Devices[edit | edit source]
Pull Stations[edit | edit source]
Most pull stations are Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations. These were installed in the mid-1980s, with a newer one as a deficiency replacement prior to the current system.
There is a Simplex 2099-9756 conventional dual-action pull station in The Ship as a deficiency replacement.
Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]
There are Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building, mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 bases.
EOLs[edit | edit source]
There are Simplex 2081-9040C end of line resistor plates on all conventional, sprinkler and signal circuits.
