Masters Academy & College is a Christian private school located at 4414 Crowchild Trail SW, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building was built in 1951, and was expanded in 2000. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 1988, 2000, and 2024. Some initiating devices remain from the 1988 upgrade, while all devices from the 2000 and 2024 upgrades remain.
System Specifications (2000-present)
FACP
The building is protected by a Notifier NFS2-640C hybrid-addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the college entrance vestibule. The system runs Notifier's CLIP addressable protocol, and uses Notifier XP6-MAA zone cards to accommodate the conventional devices. The system coding is temporal.
This panel replaced a Notifier AFP-400 in 2024; the AFP-400 is now part of the Fire Alarmpedia collection!
Booster Panels
There are Notifier ACPS-610 addressable booster power supplies at the academy entrance and in the college basement electrical room.
Notification Appliances
Most notification appliances are System Sensor "SpectrAlert" P2415A horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 15cd).
Some areas have System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" P2RA horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd) and System Sensor "L-Series" P2RLA horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, bilingual lettering, set to 15cd) as deficiency replacements.
For outdoor notification, there is a System Sensor SRKA weatherproof remote strobe (red, wall-mount) outside the college entrance.
Initiating Devices
Pull Stations
Most pull stations are Notifier NBG-12LX addressable dual-action pull stations.
Some areas have Notifier MPS-950B conventional single-action pull stations wired to Notifier MMX-101A addressable monitor modules.
Some areas of the academy have Simplex 2099-9901 conventional single-action pull stations.
There is one Mircom MS-401 conventional single-action pull station at one exit, and there is a Fire-Lite BG-12 conventional dual-action pull station at one fire door.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are Notifier CPX-551A addressable ionization smoke detectors at some fire doors and in some ramp areas.
There are Notifier FSP-851A addressable photoelectric smoke detectors at the top of most stairwells, at some fire doors, in some electrical rooms and at the top of all elevator shafts.
There are Notifier FST-851A addressable 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors in all elevator pits.
All CPX detectors are mounted on Notifier BX501 bases, and all FSP and FST detectors are mounted on a mix of Notifier B710LPA bases and System Sensor B214BIA isolator bases.
There are System Sensor DNRA duct smoke detector housings equipped with Notifier FSP-851A addressable photoelectric heads on RTUs 3 and 4 (3 per RTU, all located on the second floor).
There are System Sensor C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detectors in some stairwells.
There are a mix of FDD CR-135 and System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in some rooms.
There are FDD CR-135-EWP conventional explosionproof 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in all hazardous rooms.
There are FDD CF-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors in the academy boiler room.
Modules
There are Notifier FMM-1A addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.
There are Notifier FRM-1A addressable relay modules serving various purposes.
There are Notifier ISO-XA isolator modules on all SLCs.
EOLs
There are Notifier EOL-CR end of line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
There are Simplex 2081-9018C end of line resistor plates on all conventional circuits.
