Peter Lougheed Centre is a hospital located at 3500 26 Ave NE, Calgary, Alberta. It has an area of 506,000 sq ft, 600 patient beds, and has over 34 clinics. It was originally built in 1988, and was expanded in 2008. The fire alarm system was upgraded in 2010; the speakers in the main building are original.

System Specifications (2010-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a networked Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. There are various panel locations, the main node is in the security office. The system runs EST’s Signature addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice evacuation. The system is also configured for two-stage operation, the tones are unknown at this time. Live “Code Red” pages are made from the panel mic during an alarm condition.

Accessories

There is an EST “FireWorks” graphic computer in the CACF room.

Annunciators

There are EST 3-LCDANN LCD annunciators at every nurse’s station,and in some mechanical rooms.

Original Building (1988)

All notification appliances are the original Atlas Sound SVTF-77 speakers (red, flush-mount).

2008 Expansion

The expansion has a mix of EST “Integrity” 965-3A-8RW speaker/strobes (white, round, ceiling-mount, 8”, 30cd),and EST “Genesis” GC-S7VM speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 30cd)/

Pull Stations

All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout most areas, in each patient room, and at the top of each stairwell.
There are EST SIGA-HRS addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in some areas.
All aforementioned detectors are mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.
There are EST "SuperDuct" SIGA-SD addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors on all air handling units.

Modules

There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising all kitchen suppression systems, the generator's run/trouble contacts, the fire pump's run/trouble contacts, and the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are EST SIGA-CR addressable relay modules serving various purposes.
There are EST SIGA-IM addressable isolator modules on all SLCs.

EOLs

There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all circuits supervised by monitor modules, and on all signal circuits.
