Begin Tower is a high-rise residential tower located on the main SAIT campus in Calgary, AB. The address is 151 Dr Carpenter Cir NW, Calgary, AB. The building opened in 2008 and the system is mostly original. The system is two stage and is suspected to have a "nearby areas" sequence of operation. Suspected coding is 20 BPM chime in alert and slow whoop OR temporal tone in evac.

System Specifications (2007-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in a CACF room just off the main lobby. It is accompanied by two amplifier cabinets. The system runs Simplex's IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation, however the tones and/or messages are unknown at this time.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are Simplex 4906-9157 (white, ceiling mount) speaker/strobes.

In suites consist of Simplex 4902-9721CA white remote speakers paired with Simplex 4901-9839CA in-suite silence switches.

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable, single-action, dual stage pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Simplex 4098-9714 photoelectric addressable smoke detectors installed throughout the hallways, mounted on 4098-9792 bases.

There are Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
