Canadian National is a railway headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. This page will cover the Walker Yard's Operations Building B, located at 10229 127 Ave NW, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The building was built in 2008, and the fire alarm system is original.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4100U addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main electrical room. The system runs Simplex's IDNet addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal coding is 20BPM, and the alarm signal coding is temporal. The system is programmed for audible silence.
This panel is connected to the panel in Building A via a 4120 network.

Annunciators

There is a Simplex 4603-9101 annunciator in the main entrance vestibule.

Booster Panels

There are Simplex 4009 booster power supplies in the third floor electrical room and the generator room.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Simplex "TrueAlert" 4906-9127 horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).
The control centre and all washrooms have Simplex 4906-9101 remote strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).
For outdoor notification, there is a Wheelock MTWP-2475W-FR weatherproof horn/strobe (red, 175cd, set to continuous horn) outside the generator room. This device will sound in a continuous pattern if an alarm is initiated in the generator room, and will not sound if a main building alarm occurs.

Pull Stations

All pull stations but one are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.
There is a Simplex 4099-9001 addressable single-action pull station in the generator room.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Simplex "TrueAlarm" 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors in the atrium, all electrical rooms and all LAN rooms.
There are Simplex 4098-9733 addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in all electrical and LAN rooms next to the smoke detectors.
All aforementioned detectors are mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 bases.
There are Simplex 4098-9755 addressable photoelectric duct smoke detectors on all air handling units.
There is a Simplex 4255-54 conventional 200°F fixed-temperature heat detector in the generator room, wired to a Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor module; the EOL is located in the device.
There is a VESDA aspirating smoke detection system on the system.

Modules

There are Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.
