Calgary International Airport

Calgary International Airport, also simply known as YYC Airport is an international airport that serves Calgary. It is located at 2000 Airport Rd NE, Calgary, AB, is the fourth largest airport in Canada, and the largest and busiest airport in Alberta. It was built in the late 1930s, and the Domestic terminal was built in 1977, and the International terminal was built in 2016.

The International terminal has the original fire alarm system, and the Domestic terminal's system was installed in the early to mid 2000s; Concourse D was opened in 2002, and concourses B and C were renovated in 2005.

FACP

This terminal is protected by a Simplex 4120 networked fire alarm system. All nodes are Simplex 4100ES addressable panels, the main node is located somewhere near the in-terminal Marriott hotel according to an airport safety plan. The system runs Simplex's IDNet addressable protocol, and is equipped with voice-evacuation. The system is configured for two-stage operation. The tones and messages are unknown at this time.

All of the notification appliances are from Simplex's "TrueAlert" line of products.

Most notification appliances are Simplex 4906-9153 speaker/strobes (white, wall-mount, set to 15cd).

Some areas have Simplex 4906-9157 speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd).

In areas where more sound coverage is needed, there are Simplex 4902-9721CA remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount), and Simplex 4902-9717CA remote speakers (white, wall-mount).

All pull stations are Simplex 4099-9004CA addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are Simplex 4098-9714 addressable photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the terminal, mounted on 4098-9792 bases.

There are Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system's tamper and flow switches.

There are Simplex 4090-9002 addressable relay modules serving various purposes.

There are Simplex 4090-9116 isolator modules on the SLCs.

Firefighter's Telephones

There are Simplex 2084-9103 firefighter's telephones on each floor of the airport and networked hotel.

EOLs

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.

FACP

This terminal is protected by a Simplex 4120 networked fire alarm system. All nodes are Simplex 4100ES addressable panels. The main panel is located in the CACF room near the former Concourse B security checkpoint, and an auxiliary panel is located in the vestibule of Departures Door 1. The system runs Simplex's IDNet addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal coding is 20BPM, followed by temporal as the evacuation signal.

The 4100ES replaced a Simplex 4100U in 2016 to network to the new terminal; the cabinets were kept.

Notification Appliances

All audible notification appliances are Simplex 2901-9724 motor bells (10" gong). Most are mounted on Wheelock RSSP-2415W strobe plates (red, 15cd). Some bells are mounted remotely, and some bells are mounted on Wheelock RSS-24MCW-FR strobe plates (red, set to 15cd).

The domestic parkade has Simplex 2901-9724 motor bells, with Wheelock RSSWP-2475W-FR weatherproof remote strobes (red, 75cd) mounted underneath them.

The departures area also has Simplex 4904-9105 remote strobes (red, wall-mount, 110cd), mounted on the lowered ceilings of the entry doors.

There is also a Simplex 4904-9103 remote strobe (red, ceiling-mount, 4.75cd), fitted with a 4905-9902 lens (no marking).

The 4904-series strobes were installed in 1995.

Bonus Information

-The 4100ES in the Domestic Terminal set an Instagram record for actual troubles, with a whopping 102 troubles! There was one with more troubles, but it had many disabled points, whereas this one did not.

-This is the only major airport in North America to use bell/strobes for notification appliances. [[]
