Carewest Sarcee’ is a senior living facility located at 3504 Sarcee Road SW, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The facility is owned and operated by Alberta Health Services. The building was built in 1960, expanded in 1976, and was renovated in 1996. The fire alarm system was upgraded as part of the 1996 renovation.

FACP
The building is protected by an Edwards EST3 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main telephone room. The system runs Edwards’ Signature addressable protocol, and is configured for two-stage operation. The alert signal coding is 20BPM, and the alarm signal coding is 120BPM march time.
Annunciators
There are Edwards EST3-LCDANN annunciators at each nurse’s station, and in the main entrance vestibule.
Notification Appliances
All notification appliances are Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6” gong) mounted on Edwards 403-5A-R strobe plates (15cd, unenhanced).
Initiating Devices
Pull Stations
All pull stations are EST SIGA-270P addressable two-stage single-action pull stations.
Automatic Detection Devices
There are EST SIGA-IPHS addressable ionization/photoelectric smoke and 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors throughout all corridors, in all patient rooms, at the top of each stairwell, and in various other areas.
There are EST SIGA-HRS addressable 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in the kitchen and in all mechanical rooms.
All aforementioned detectors are mounted on EST SIGA-SB bases.
There are EST SIGA-DH duct smoke detector housings equipped with EST SIGA-PS addressable photoelectric heads on all air handling units.
Modules
There are EST SIGA-CT1 addressable monitor modules supervising the kitchen suppression system, the generator’s run/trouble contacts, and the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are EST SIGA-CR addressable relay modules serving various purposes.
There are EST SIGA-IM addressable isolator modules on all SLCs.
EOLs
There are Edwards EOL-P1 end of line resistor plates on all circuits supervised by monitor modules, and on all signal circuits.
