Cedars of Calgary is an apartment complex located at 215 86 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The complex is owned and operated by Shelter Canadian Properties. This page will cover Building J, which was built in 1977. The fire alarm system is mostly original, with devices replaced as deficiencies occur.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by a Mircom FA-1000 conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in the J1 electrical room. The system coding is temporal.
This panel replaced the original Edwards 1523.

Annunciators

There is a Mircom RAM-1032TZDS annunciator at the J1 north entrance, mounted in a Mircom BB-1001 cabinet.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Edwards "Durabel" 6100D vibrating bells (6" gong).
There are Mirtone 74328 vibrating bells (6" gong) as deficiency replacements.
There are also Mircom BL-6B motor bells (6" gong) as deficiency replacements.
For exterior notification, there is an Edwards "Adaptabel" 343D vibrating bell (6" gong) with a System Sensor "SpectrAlert Advance" SRKA weatherproof remote strobe (red, wall-mount, set to 75cd) outside the J1 north vestibule.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

Most pull stations are Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.
Some areas have Mircom MS-401 conventional single-action pull stations as deficiency replacements.


Automatic Detection Devices

There are System Sensor C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detectors throughout the building.
There are Potter CF-135W conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors in the mechanical, laundry and electrical rooms.
There are System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors at the top of each stairwell.

EOLs

All end-of-line resistors are located behind the field devices at the end of each circuit.
