Ed-Lam Industrial Contracting is a welding and fabrication shop located at 11209 84 Ave, in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. The main shop was built in 2012, and the offices and other areas were built in 2015. The fire alarm system was installed as part of the 2015 expansion.

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Mircom FX-2000 addressable fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system runs Mircom’s CLIP addressable protocol, and the system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances are Mircom “Select-A-Horn/Strobe” FHS-340R horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to electromechanical/15cd).
All washrooms have Mircom “Select-A-Strobe” FS-340W remote strobes (white, wall-mount, set to 15cd).

Pull Stations[edit | edit source]

All pull stations are Mircom MS-401AD addressable single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices[edit | edit source]

There are Mircom MIX-2251APA addressable photoelectric smoke detectors at the top of each stairwell, in the copier room, and some other areas.
There are Mircom MIX-5251APA addressable 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors in the furnace room, multipurpose room, electrical rooms, and janitor rooms.
There is a Mircom MIX-5251HAPA addressable 190°F fixed-temperature heat detector in the upper furnace room.
These are mounted on System Sensor B210LPA bases in most areas, and on System Sensor B224BIA isolator bases in the east stairwell and copier room.
There is a Mircom MIX-2351APA addressable photoelectric smoke detector in the main electrical room as a deficiency replacement, mounted on a System Sensor B300A-6 base.
There is a System Sensor DNRA duct smoke detector housing with a Mircom MIX-2251APA addressable photoelectric head on the main make up air unit.

Modules[edit | edit source]

There are Mircom MIX-M500MAPA addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches.
There are Mircom MIX-M500RAPA addressable relay modules serving various purposes.
There are System Sensor M500XA isolator modules on the SLC.

There are Mircom MP-300 end of line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
