FCI 7200

From FireAlarmPedia

The FCI 7200 is a modular fire alarm control panel developed by Fire Control Instruments (FCI). It is a relatively uncommon panel to see today as it was replaced by the Gamewell-FCI E3 series.

7200 Models

7200 The normal 7200 is a modular panel that comes in a conventional and addressable variant.
7200 Micro The 7200 Micro is an addressable only variant, and has less points than it's larger counterpart. It is also not modular, having everything soldered to the main board.

Notable Applications

There aren't any notable applications at this time. See Madison Middle School on this forum.

Features of the FCI 7200

ALU Card The ALU (Analog Loop Unit) card is a Loop card that is used to convert the panel to Addressable.
KDU Display The FCI 7200 did not initially come with a display. The KDU (Keyboard Display Unit) is a display that can be added to the panel as an option. It was required in addressable installs, as it not only attached directly to the ALU card, but also was needed in order to read device names, statuses, and Loop information for devices. It also brought the menu to the panel.
CLIP Addressable ProtocolThe FCI 7200 and 7200 micro addressable variants ran FCI's CLIP protocol. CLIP was at the time a revolutionary breakthrough in addressable fire alarm systems, and still is to this day.
FireVac Capabilities The FireVac II was a voice evacuation card made for the FCI 7200 and other FCI panels of that era. Panels with the FireVac were more uncommon than panels without it.

History of the FCI 7200

The FCI 7200 was initially unveiled in 1995 at the NFPA convention. It released in 1996 and was discontinued in 2005 as part of the roll out of the 7100 Series of panels.

Conclusion

The FCI 7200 was a reliable choice if you wanted an easy to install and maintain panel for small to medium installations. It is to this day a reliable panel and there are many still in service.
