Hillside Estates is an apartment complex owned and operated by Boardwalk. This page will cover Building A, located at 310 Grier Ave NE, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building was built in 1980, and the fire alarm system is mostly original, with device replacements occurring as deficiencies occur; all smoke detectors were replaced in the 2010s.

System Specifications

FACP

The building is protected by a Mircom FA-1000 conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in the main entrance vestibule. The system is configured for two-stage operation. The alert coding is 20BPM, and the alarm coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Edwards "Durabel" 6100D vibrating bells (6" gong).
There are Edwards 439D-6AWC vibrating bells (6" gong) throughout the building as deficiency replacements.
There are two Wheelock MB-G6-24 motor bells (6" gong) as deficiency replacements.
Notification appliances are located throughout all corridors; there are no devices in the suites.

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations but one are Mircom MS-401 conventional single-action pull stations, installed as deficiency replacements.
There is one Edwards 275-C111 conventional single-action pull station, which was not replaced.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are System Sensor C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detectors throughout all corridors and at the top of each stairwell.
There are Edwards 245A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors in all garbage rooms, and in the south stair vestibule.
There is a Potter CR-135W conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector in the main floor south garbage room.
There is a System Sensor 5601A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector in the main entrance vestibule.
There is an FDD CR-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temprature/rate-of-rise heat detector in the north stair vestibule.
There is a Mircom TD-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detector in the main electrical room.

EOLs

There are a mix of Edwards EOL-P1 and red end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
