The John J Bowlen Building is an Alberta government building located at 620 7 Ave SW, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The building is operated by Edon management. The building was built in 1967, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in 2011.

System Specifications (2011-present)[edit | edit source]

FACP[edit | edit source]

The building is protected by a Notifier NOTI-FIRE-NET networked fire alarm system. There are 4 nodes on this system; all are Notifier NFS2-640C addressable fire alarm panels. Node 1 is located in the CACF room on the main floor and is equipped with an NCA-2C display. Nodes 2 through 4 are located in the north storage rooms on floors 3, 6 and 9 respectively. The system runs Notifier’s FlashScan addressable protocol, is configured for two-stage operation, and is equipped with Notifier’s “Digital Voice Command” (DVC) voice evacuation system. The alert signal is a 20BPM tone followed by a standby message, and the alarm signal is a temporal tone followed by an evacuation message. See below for message scripts.

Notification Appliances[edit | edit source]

Most notification appliances are System Sensor “SpectrAlert Advance” SPSCWA speaker/strobes (white, ceiling-mount, set to 70V/15cd).
Some areas have System Sensor SPCWA remote speakers (white, ceiling-mount, set to 70V).
Some areas, such as the parkade area, have System Sensor SPSRA speaker/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 70V/15cd).
The stairwells have System Sensor SPWA remote speakers (white, wall-mount, set to 70V).
Some areas have System Sensor SWA remote strobes (white, wall-mount, set to 15cd).
