Macleod Place is a set of two office buildings located at 5920 Macleod Trail SW, Calgary, AB. The complex was built in 1971, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in 2002.

System Specifications

FACP

The complex is protected by a Tyco/Grinnell Series M-1000 conventional fire alarm system. There are three panels, located in the following:

  • Rear hallway exit of I
  • Parkade electrical room of II
  • Penthouse electrical room

Each panel supervises its respective area, and are wired to trip each other when one goes into alarm. The system coding is temporal.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances are Mircom "Select-a-Horn/Strobe" FHS-240R horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, 15cd/electromechanical).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

Most pull stations are the original Simplex 4251-20 conventional single-action pull stations.
There are Mircom MS-401 conventional single-action pull stations as deficiency replacements.

Automatic Detection Devices

There are System Sensor C2W-BA conventional photoelectric smoke detectors at the top of the stairwell and in some other areas.
There are FDD CR-135 conventional 135°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detectors in the telephone/electrical rooms and mechanical room.
One server room has a Simplex 4098-9615 conventional 200°F fixed-temperature/rate-of-rise heat detector.
There is a mix of FDD CF-135 and System Sensor 5603A conventional 135°F fixed-temperature heat detectors throughout the parkade.

EOLs

There are Mircom MP-300 end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
