Safeway Canada is a chain of grocery stores. They are owned by Sobeys, and have locations across the country. This particular store is located at 6112 50 St, Leduc, Alberta, Canada. The store opened in 1991, and most of the system is original. The store was renovated in 2024, and the notification appliances were upgraded the same year.

This store is part of a plaza that was added on in 2005, however this system is not networked to the one in the plaza.

System Specifications (1991-present)

FACP

The building is protected by a Simplex 4006 conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located in the compressor room. The system coding is temporal.

The 4006 was installed around 2016, replacing an Edwards 6616 due to a main board failure.

Annunciators

There is a Simplex 4610-9111 annunciator in the main entrance vestibule.

Notification Appliances

Most notification appliances are Simplex "TrueAlert" 4906-9128 horn/strobes (red, ceiling-mount, set to 15cd) throughout the storefront.

The backroom and some other areas have Simplex 4906-9127 horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).

There is a Simplex 4906-9101 remote strobe (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd) in the meat area.

All horn/strobes were installed in 2024, replacing Edwards 882-2B remote horns (red, wall-mount). These are mounted on the ceiling.

The strobe in meat replaced an Edwards 202-5A-T remote strobe (red, wall-mount, 15cd).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

All pull stations are Edwards 270-SPO conventional single-action pull stations.

Automatic Detection Devices

There is likely a Simplex "TrueAlarm" 4098-9601 conventional photoelectric smoke detector at the top of the stairwell, mounted on a Simplex 4098-9788 base.

EOLs

There are Simplex 2081-9040C end-of-line resistor plates on all circuits.
