Silver Springs Plaza is a small shopping plaza located at 5720 Silver Springs Boulevard Northwest, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The plaza consists of the following: Circle K, Urban Fringe Salon, Champion’s Creed MMA, Silver Springs Animal Hospital, Mitillini’s Pizza and Steak House, Cafe Le Matin, AMHSA, and Silver Point Pub & Eatery. The plaza opened in 1976, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in 2006. This system is no longer in service as the panel failed in 2024. No information is known about the new system at this time, however it is believed to be Notifier.

Former System Specifications (2006-2024)

FACP

The building was protected by a Simplex 4008 addressable fire alarm system. The panel was located in the main electrical room. The system ran Simplex’s IDNet addressable protocol, and the system coding was temporal.

Annunciators

There was a Simplex 4606-9102 annunciator at the main mall entrance.

Notification Appliances

All notification appliances were Simplex “TrueAlert” 4906-9127 horn/strobes (red, wall-mount, set to 15cd).

Initiating Devices

Pull Stations

Most pull stations were Simplex 4099-9001 addressable single-action pull stations.

Some areas had Simplex 4099-9004 addressable single-action pull stations as deficiency replacements.

Automatic Detection Devices

There were Simplex “TrueAlarm” 4098-9733 addressable fixed/rate-of-rise heat detectors in mechanical rooms, mounted on Simplex 4098-9792 bases.

Modules

There were Simplex 4090-9001 addressable monitor modules supervising the sprinkler system’s tamper and flow switches, and for alarm signal receiving from Value Village. There was a Simplex 4090-9002 addressable relay module used to trip the Value Village system.

EOLs

There were Simplex 2081-9040C end-of-line resistor plates on all sprinkler and signal circuits.
