Super 8 is a chain of budget hotels owned by Wyndham. The chain is headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, USA, and has locations worldwide. This particular hotel is located at 651 18 St, in Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada. The hotel was built in 1970, and the fire alarm system was upgraded in the 1980s.

The building is protected by an Edwards 2280 conventional fire alarm system. The panel is located behind the front desk. This panel has 24 zones, with one master control cabinet, and two zone monitoring cabinets. The system coding is continuous.
